PHP 4.3 Cluster
We offer support for PHP 4.3 as part of our shared web hosting products.
Architecture
The PHP 4.3 cluster looks like this:
- Network traffic on 193.111.200.151 comes from the Internet into our load balancers on and on to our Squid Proxies.
- The Squid Proxies use the address of the website to route the traffic to individual machines in the PHP 4.3 Cluster or the PHP 4.4 Cluster.
- Each web server has the hostname lon-web-X.gradwell.net (e.g. lon-web-1.gradwell.net, lon-web-2.gradwell.net and so on).
- Your home directories and your websites exist on all of the lon-web-X servers. They are mounted from the /home fileservers via NFS.
- Every lon-web-X server can access your databases on our MySQL servers.
- The Apache log files are available when you log into shell.gradwell.net.
Components
The PHP 4.3 cluster uses:
- Apache 1.3.9 with full .htaccess support and support for mod_rewrite.
- PHP 4.3.9 running via CGI and these PHP extensions.
If you need additional functionality that isn't listed above, we'd be happy to hear from you. We're unable to add new functionality to this PHP cluster (because this cluster will be retired in the near future), but we can add new functionality to our other PHP clusters: PHP 4.4 and PHP 5.2.
Publishing Your Website On This Cluster
This cluster is no longer available for new websites. If you have an existing website hosted with Gradwell that you need to move back to this cluster, please contact our Customer Services team.
