MySQL Servers

MySQL is the most popular relational database server for storing data used in web sites and web-based applications. It is the 'M' in the LAMP stack - Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.

As part of our shared hosting products, we provide a number of different MySQL servers to choose from. Each MySQL server is shared by a large number of our customers, so please be considerate with your SQL queries.

We recommend that all customers create their databases on our MySQL 5.0 platform at this time. Support for MySQL 4.x will be phased out in Q3/Q4 2009.

Please note that MySQL 4.x is no longer actively developed by Sun Microsystems, and 'Extended Support' (where they provide security fixes) is ending in Q4 2009; therefore this a legacy platform, and plans will shortly be announced to transition customers onto MySQL 5.1 - stay tuned for further information.
