What Is Shared Hosting?
Shared hosting is a cost-effective approach to having your own website(s) without having to pay the full costs of the server that your website is hosted on.
In a shared hosting environment, your website still has its own address (e.g. www.example.com), but it is published from the same set of servers as other Gradwell customers.
Shared Hosting Server Clusters
Depending on the version of PHP that you need, we have different clusters of shared hosting servers available for your website:
Data Storage and Backups
With a shared hosting package, there is nothing to manage, nothing to worry about.
Your website is stored on our clustered /home fileservers, which use enterprise-class storage with both redundant disks and redundant storage servers to ensure that your data is never lost.
We automatically backup your website and MySQL databases every night. If you need anything restored from backup, please contact our customer services team. There may be a charge for restoring from backup.
Trading Up
If your website is very busy, or you would prefer to have more control over the software and configuration of the web server, then we would recommend that you buy a dedicated server to host your website on. We sell virtual private servers (VPS) at competitive prices, which are perfect when you outgrow our shared hosting products.
