Sending Mail
Standard Mailboxes
If you have an Email Standard, Advanced or Premier mailbox, then email is sent out via the following route:
- Email clients are configured to send out email via relay.gradwell.net, using SMTP.
- Our load balancers forward on the email to our pool of mail queue servers.
- If the email is going to a Gradwell mailbox, the email is delivered to the appropriate mail fileserver.
- Otherwise, the email is sent out via the Internet to wherever the recipient's mailbox is.
Exchange Mailboxes
If you have Exchange Advanced or Exchange Premier mailboxes, email is sent via a different route.
- Microsoft Outlook sends all outgoing email via the Exchange server.
- If the email is going to another Exchange mailbox, Microsoft Exchange will deliver the email locally.
- Otherwise, the email is sent out via the Internet to wherever the recipient's mailbox is.
