How to configure a Blackberry device for Hosted Exchange |

Getting StartedPlease note - this document is now outdated due to a technical change to our platform, this document does however remain for users that are still provisioned on the "Genesis" platform for reference. New accounts are being created on our "Cloud Mail" platform and information concerning Blackberry devices will be sent at activation time. First you need to ensure that "BES" or "Blackberry Enterprise Server" has been activated by your mobile operator on your handheld device, in order to be able to send and receive email on the move. Basic ConfigurationOnce you have logged into the Gradwell Control Panel, click on the Email CP box at the top of the screen. You will then see a list of Mailbox's that you have available and the Mailbox Type - Blackberry support can only be added to Hosted Exchange Premier mailbox's Select the Mailbox that you wish to add Blackberry support to , by clicking on the Manage mailbox link.
From the left hand Mailbox Management menu, click on Mobile Device Support Next, click on Blackberry Support You will then see the Provision BlackBerry Device screen
You will need to enter your BlackBerry device's PIN and an activation password. You can retrieve your device PIN by selecting Options from the BlackBerry menu followed by Status. The activation password is a one time password used to "Pair" your handheld with your email account. Once you have entered the information click on the Provision Blackberry button. You now need to setup your handheld device Press the BlackBerry menu key then select Setup , from the Setup screen select Email Setup From the Email Setup screen, select "I want to use a work email account with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server" then click on Next The next screen will prompt you with "Has your BlackBerry Enterprise Server administator provided you with an Enterprise Activation password?" select Yes and click on Next You will now see the Enterprise Activation Screen In the Email field enter the exchange mailbox that you are activating on your BlackBerry In the Password field enter the activation password that you specified in the Gradwell Control Panel Verify that the PIN displayed on screen is correct, then click on Next or Activate Your BlackBerry will then begin the activation process, this can take upto 5 minutes to complete. Once activated you will then be able to send and receive emails from your handheld device. |
