I have received a fax, however I cannot view the TIFF attachment correctly

Getting Started

If you have requested to receive your faxess from our Fax-to-Email service in a .tif format, you may have problems viewing them using the standard Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

There are two solutions to this problem, one is to download a free software application and the other is for more advanced users.

Basic Configuration

In order to view the received faxes correctly a free piece of software called Irfanview can be downloaded and installed on your PC, you can download this program from here.

Advanced Settings and Troubleshooting

If you wish to modify your Windows installation to view faxes using Microsoft Picture and Fax viewer, please follow the instructions below.

• Click Start > My Computer
• Select the Tools option from the toolbar, followed by Folder Options
• Select the File Types tab
• Locate the "TIF" file extension
• Highlight this file type, and select the "Advanced" button
• Select Open from the Actions box
• Select Edit from the right
• Change the "Application used to perform action:" field to read
• rundll32.exe C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32shimvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1
• Select the "Preview" button from the right hand side window
• Change the "Application used to perform action:" field to read
• rundll32.exe C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1
• Click OK
• Click OK

Windows has now been reconfigured to use the built in Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer application.
