How to set up trixbox CE for a SIP outbound trunk

Getting Started

This guide covers setting up Trixbox CE for use with our SIP outbound service and presumes you have a basic working knowledge of Trixbox.

Basic configuration

Log on to the Trixbox configuration and administration screen by entering the IP address of your Trixbox into a web browser and switching to admin mode. Select PBX -> PBX Settings. Under the basic section on the left choose trunks. Select the add SIP Trunk. You will now be presented with the general settings screen for the SIP trunk and the settings must be entered following this format:

General settings

Maximum channels: Enter the number of outbound channels you wish to allocate.

Outgoing dial rules 

Dial rules wizards: You can add prefixes to numbers, remove prefixes and use a lookup to replace prefixes.

Outbound dial prefix: If your Trixbox is behind another PBX and this requires you to dial 9 to access an outside line this is where you configure this.

Outgoing settings

Trunk name: This is a descriptive name that you give to the trunk.

PEER details: Enter the following lines in this box:

host=sip.trunk.gradwell.com
type=peer

Incoming settings

You will need to select the general settings Option from the main setup screen and set the security settings ‘Allow Anonymous Inbound SIP Calls?’ to be YES and select Submit Changes. Finally select the red bar at the top of the screen to reload the configuration files. You have now set up the outbound SIP connection to Gradwell, you must now set up your ‘Outbound Routes’ rules.
