How to set up trixbox CE for an IAX inbound trunk

Getting Started

This guide covers setting up trixbox CE for use with Gradwell IAX inbound services and presumes a basic working knowledge of trixbox.

Basic configuration

Log on to the trixbox configuration and administration screen by entering the IP address of your trixbox into a web browser and switching to admin mode. Select PBX -> PBX Settings.

Under the basic section on the left choose trunks.

Select the add IAX2 Trunk.

You will now be presented with the general settings screen for the IAX trunk and the settings must be entered following this format:

General settings
Leave these fields blank unless you are using the same trunk for the IAX outbound service.

Outgoing dial rules
Leave these fields blank unless you are using the same trunk for the IAX outbound service.

Outgoing Settings
Leave these fields blank unless you are using the same trunk for the IAX outbound service.

Incoming settings
USER context: Enter the username you supplied as part of your IAX destination string when purchasing the service

• For example, using the IAX2 URI, the username will be specified as IAX2/username:password@IPaddress/01234567890)

 USER details: Enter the following lines in this box:

context=from-pstn
disallow=all (optional)
allow=alaw (optional)
type=user
secret=Enter the password you specified as part of your IAX destination string when purchasing the service

• For example, using the IAX2 URI, the password will be specified as IAX2/username:password@IPaddress/01234567890)

Leave the Register String empty and select Submit Changes.

Finally select the red bar at the top of the screen to reload the configuration files.

You have now set up the inbound IAX connection to Gradwell, you must now set up your ‘Inbound Routes’ rules.
