How to provision a snom phone on Gradwell One

Getting started

Gradwell One allows you to provision and manage snom phones using the control panel, providing a simple way of administering the system.

Please note that in our experience the provisioning process works best if the phone is step upgraded to firmware version 8.4 first. This is available from the snom wiki. Click on your device and then the firmware link.

Walkthrough video

To help you set up your account you can watch our walkthrough video below. You can pause and rewind as necessary, and use it along with the notes below.

Basic configuration

In order to provision a snom phone, you need to start off in the administrator control panel. Navigate to Devices in the top menu, and then select SIP Phones.

Underneath the section called General there is a settings URL. You need to copy the whole of this into your clipboard.

Now navigate to the web interface on your snom. If you are unsure how to do this, simply power on the phone and note down the IP address that appears as it boots up. Type this into your web browser address bar and press enter.

From the web interface, click on Advanced and then the Update tab.

Paste the URL you placed into the clipboard in the Setting URL box. Ensure that PnP Config is set to Off.

Click Save and then Reboot. The phone will automatically restart and download any necessary firmware from our servers. It is very important that you do not power off the phone whilst it is doing this.

After the phone has successfully restarted, return to the SIP Phones section of your control panel. You should now see the phone listed as unprovisioned. To provision it, click on the entry.

The settings section that loads allows you to do several things. You can choose which firmware version you wish for the phone to use, a description of the phone and which codec you wish for the snom to use.

In the Function keys section you search for the name of the user you wish to use the phone. The system will search the directory and return a list of matches. Simply click the user you wish to use the phone.

After you have clicked save, reboot the phone and the device will use the new login credentials after a short delay.

Using more than one identity

To use more than one identity on the phone, return to the SIP phones menu and select the device you wish to edit.

Scroll down to the Function keys section and add the user as described above in one of the free lines.

Click Save and then Reboot the phone to make the identity active.

Bulk provisioning

If you have a lot of dev to provision, you can import a CSV file. Simply use the Bulk handling of SIP phones section.

Accessing the snom web interface after provisioning

After you have provisioned the snom phone, the web interface will require a user name and password to log in. The default for this is:

  • User name: admin
  • Password: pw357-

To change access the Advanced menu you will need to enter the following password:

  • Password: 3579
