How to configure AsteriskNOW for an IAX Inbound Trunk

Getting Started

Once logged into the AsteriskNOW web interface, select the Service Providers menu from the left hand side of the screen.
To configure Inbound calling select, Add Service Provider and Select Custom VOIP

You will need to complete the form displayed on screen with the information below

  • Comment: GWIN01234567890 (Replace with your gradwell issued PSTN number)
  • Protocol: IAX
  • Register: (Leave as default - Unchecked)
  • Host: iax.trunk.gradwell.com
  • Username: (This will be the username part of the IAX2 URL you defined in the VOIP Control Panel)
  • Password: (This will be the password part of the IAX2 URL you defined in the VOIP Control Panel)

Once the basic settings have been entered, click on the Options tab and select Advanced.

Now change the trunkname: option to match the Username part of the IAX2 URL

You will then need to setup an inbound route for the trunk by using the Incoming Calls menu,

For example, to route all calls inbound from the PSTN when your number is called create a rule ;

  • Route: All unmatched incoming calls
  • from provider: (Select the provider you created above)
  • to extension: (Select the destination for the call i.e. Extension/Ringgroup/IVR)

Once the inbound rule has been created click Save, then click Activate Changes at the top right of the screen.

Asterisk will now reload and you should be able to call your PSTN number and calls will route based on the created trunk.
