How to change my website to use PHP 5.2
Getting started
We provide a PHP 5.2 hosting platform for general use. This is an up-to-date version of PHP that allows you to use far more functionality than PHP 4.4.
Making the change
- Log in to the hosting control panel at www.gradwell.net -> my account
- Then click on ‘UNIX hosting’ on the left
- If the control panel shows Web Wizard instead of Unix Hosting, then you will need to change the zone file for your domain under the 'Primary DNS' menu option.
- Click ‘edit’ next to the domain you wish to move onto PHP5.2
- Select the version of PHP you wish to move onto – ‘PHP5.2’
- Take note of the new IP address from the notes underneath incase you have a custom zone file (5.2 web cluster is - 195.74.61.93)
- Click ‘update virtual host settings’
- Then click on ‘manage domains’, click ‘edit’ next to the domain you wish to change
- Then select the correct zone file, default web hosting on PHP5.2 cluster. Then click Update
- This will move your domains over to the PHP5.2 web cluster
Advanced configuration and Diagnostics
Please bear in mind that the DNS only reloads once and hour and it might take up to 48 hours for these changes to fully propagate across the Internet.
If you have a custom zone file, i.e. you are sending your email to a different email server, or you have setup sub-domains, you will need to edit this and change all references of 193.111.200.151 to 195.74.61.93 in order to redirect all HTTP traffic to the new PHP cluster.
