Technical Manager / CTO

Gradwell dot com Limited has doubled in size every year for the last 3-4 years, and this growth, in terms of finance, staff and customer base has been driven through a well defined strategy of sales & marketing, good quality customer support and service delivery, but also a strong focus on product development and technical innovation.

The company now has approximately 20 staff, of which 7 are devoted to technical functions – software development, systems administration and 2nd line support. The need now arises for a Technical Manager/CTO.

As a software engineering graduate, advancing the technical agenda has been Peter Gradwell’s focus, and the line management of the technical function has been his responsibility, but, with the growth of the business new priorities are emerging and this job has been created to fill the following criteria:

1. The technical team require a “full time boss”, setting objectives, reviewing progress and providing structure in the bath office.

2. The business requires a member of staff within the Bath office who has a complete grasp and in-depth technical understanding of all of technical systems

3. Be responsible to the business for the technical delivery of the service, and to seek to improve service levels through the addition of increased structure and change management.

4. Work with Peter (MD) & Ben (Senior Developer) on the product and technical architecture, to implement the technical and business development plans.

This position is based in our Bath offices, with national and international travel required. You will also be responsible for the technical delivery of a 24×7 operation and required to work anti-social hours on occasion.

This role is held within our senior management salary bracket with a salary between £40,000 and £50,000 pa, generous holiday, mileage and communications benefits.
